TechPro certificate programs at Illinois Tech are designed to make it easier for you to develop the skills and expertise you need to succeed in today’s evolving workforce.

Whether you want to upskill for career advancement or are considering a career shift, TechPro certificate programs deliver outstanding value and flexibility from Chicago’s only tech-focused university. This program only applies to preselected students from Illinois Tech overseas partner school students who will be completing their Bachelor’s degree prior to enrollment in the program (if admitted).

  • TechPro includes selected certificate programs in engineering, computing, business and science
  • Illinois Tech partner school pre-selected students are eligible for a 50% scholarship per course or for the entire certificate program, if a student qualifies for admission. Registered and enrolled students will be charged a part-time Student Service fee. The current (August 2024-2025) part-time Student Service fee is $190. The tuition and other fees costs for each new academic year may change.
  • TechPro certificate programs can be completed 100 percent online, and some courses are also offered in hybrid mode for information about mode of delivery see below under the TechPro Certificate Programs section

Those interested in completing the entire TechPro certificate may apply all of those courses towards the specific Master’s degree program. Your Pathway to a Graduate Degree

Are you unsure whether you want to enroll in a graduate degree program right now? If you decide in the future to pursue a master’s degree at Illinois Tech, you will be able to apply all courses taken towards the certificate program with a grade of B or better, towards your graduate degree program. Partner school admitted students are eligible for 50% scholarship for certificate courses or certificate programs. Registered and enrolled students will be charged a part-time Student Service fee. The current (August 2024-2025) part-time Student Service fee is $190. The tuition and other fees costs for each new academic year may change.

Admission Requirements

All prerequisite courses must be successfully passed relevant to the certificate program course, prior to applying for the program or a course offered under a certificate program.

A maximum of 15 credits per year is permitted including prerequisite courses.

Application Deadlines

TechPro Certificate Programs

Certificate programs and courses listed may apply to applicable Master degree programs offered per department. For the departments of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Information Technology and Management, Biomedical Engineering, and Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering, non-Illinois Tech undergraduate students may be eligible to take one course from the TechPro Certificate program of choice per the following conditions: a) Completed the necessary prerequisites; b) Received approval from their home institution to take the Illinois Tech course for credit; c) Have a maximum of 2 semesters left to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree.

All certificate programs in BME require completion of a minimum of 9 credits hours though you may take up to 12 credit hours. You may transfer 1-12 credit hours taken remotely at any time* into any in-person Master’s program in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Illinois Tech (ME-BME, MS-BME, MS-BMDS, MS-MDB, MS-CEBM). *All Certificates can be completed in a single semester (depending on the program either in Fall or Spring semesters). Please direct all questions regarding these BME certificate programs to the Associate Chair for Graduate Affairs in BME, Ken Tichauer (ktichaue@iit.edu). Undergraduate final year students ( e.g. 3rd year in a 3-yr program or 4th year in a 4-year program) may enroll in TechPro certificate programs as long as they have the necessary prerequisites.

ITMD 510: Object-Oriented App Development is needed as a prerequisite for the Advanced Software Certificate program and ITMO 540 needed for the Cybersecurity Management Certificate. All students interested in the ITM certificate programs must have a networking courses successfully completed. Please contact Ryan Nelson (nelsonr@iit.edu) for queries before taking a course if a student has not yet completed the Bachelor’s degree.
