A Role for Everyone: Multidisciplinary Faculty Engagement in Election 2020
This year professors—who are the most consistent communicators with students in this era of remote learning—will need to help students vote.
This role raises a lot of questions: Why should I take class time to discuss the election, particularly if I don’t teach political science or a related field? What is my responsibility to help students understand the issues relevant to my field? How do I stick to the original syllabus while adding content around the election? How do we manage pressure to remain “neutral” or apolitical? How do I help students spot and question misinformation? What do I do to prepare for potentially divisive discussions?
