Building Energy Modeling (Certificate)

Illinois Tech’s Certificate in Building Energy Modeling program provides students with skill sets in building energy simulation using computational tools, which has become increasingly important in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. 

This program also serves as a foundation for students who intend to pursue a Master of Engineering in Architectural Engineering.

Program Overview

Students in the Certificate in Building Energy Modeling program take a minimum of three courses on topics such as building science, energy conservation in building design, building energy modeling, and building information modeling (BIM) for building performance.

This program can be taken fully or partially online, primarily via asynchronous lecture recordings.

Certificate programs typically require a set of three to four courses that must be completed in three years with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Note: Some courses in the certificate program may have prerequisites.

Students who are admitted to master’s degree programs may apply coursework that was previously taken in a certificate program toward the requirements for the master’s degree.
