Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?

I chose computer science because I love creating efficient solutions for complex problems, and putting my unique mark on the programs I write. After graduation, I'm still uncertain what I would like to do specifically, but I have enjoyed working with cryptocurrency and trading data so far and would be happy to pursue a career in this sector.

What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?

I really love the people within the program! Everyone you'll meet has a real desire to achieve great things, and those are the people I like to surround myself with.

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

In twenty years, I hope to have the experience to lead and contribute to large-scale, impactful projects. On the side, I hope to one day run an online business selling original software.

How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camras scholar?

In Fall 2021, my research team submitted our project for the Grainger Computing Innovation Prize contest, for computing solutions promoting sustainable infrastructure and energy efficiency. We chose to design a new cryptocurrency that uses our custom consensus algorithm to eliminate the need for constantly running GPUs like most major blockchains, saving enough electricity to power a small country. I think this speaks about me because I love investigating problems that have never been solved before, and because I want to create solutions that can make a helpful impact on society.
