Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?
I chose architecture because I'm fascinated that the combination of analyzation, design and tactile processes can build and program relationships between the environment, the economy and people. As an architect I want to create more purposeful but spontaneous, positive and interactive connections between people, their environment and the businesses and organizations surrounding them; in this way I hope more ideas will be shared, growth in learning and business will occur and perhaps people can begin to build many large and diverse communities and that can support each other.
What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?
My favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program is that it provides a bridge between students of different backgrounds and majors, that allows us to come together, learn from each other, and exposes us to an environment that is different from what we are used to in our major oriented schedules.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
Although I've thought about this question before in a very objective way, over time I've begun to abstract what I envision for my future. I do know that I see myself making a positive change wherever I am, I hope to have traveled and made connections along the way and I want to be part of a community or communities that continue to learn from each other.
How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camras scholar?
In my Junior and Senior year of High School I volunteered at a number of environmental clean ups in my state. I was continuously inspired at the amount we could accomplish simply by coming together and setting our minds towards a unified goal. My senior year I decided to host my own clean-up, and through the collaboration of a school service club I gathered a group of about 15 people to clean up a portion of land by the Salt River in the Tonto National Forest in Arizona.
