Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?

I chose to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering for two main reasons. From an early age, I developed an interest in railroads due to my grandfather and the impact the rail industry has in my hometown. In high school, I took multiple engineering-based courses through the Project Lead The Way program, and I enjoyed the Civil/Architectural Engineering course the most. I felt a degree in Civil Engineering was the best way to bridge my interests and experiences.

What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?

The best part about the Camras Scholars Program is the tight-knit community and positive culture. You know everyone is rooting for you to accomplish your goals!

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

I hope that I am a successful engineer working on impactful projects that make me want to come to work every day. I also hope to be a positive role model/mentor figure for future generations of engineers.

How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camras scholar?

During my time at IIT, I have had the pleasure to work on some interesting projects including the design and creation of a functioning scale model of a railroad classification yard and the development of a HAZMAT protocol for the Belt Railway of Chicago. I am also tremendously proud of my Eagle Scout project executed during my senior year of high school. The project consisted of three phases benefitting a local elementary school.
