Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?
I’ve always loved taking apart and building computers. Computers are everywhere and I believe that people should know how to use them and the resources they can provide. I also believe that regulation of privacy on the internet is important and am looking to go into either patent law or policy making regarding technology regulation.
What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?
My favorite thing about Camras is all of the opportunities to connect with various communities in and outside of IIT that it provides.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
I see myself either making policy or working with researchers to make computers more accessible and environmentally sustainable.
How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camas Scholar?
I’m an advocate for intercultural communication and understanding. In my high school I ran an event called multicultural night where students represented various countries at tables with food and posters. There was also a doll guessing game with my computer science teacher who collected dolls from over 50 countries. The event had multiple performances throughout the night and ended with a dance from my computer science teacher and his wife of around 50 years.
