Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?
I want to work in data science. I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in both math and CS because I find both to be essential to the industry I wish to work in. Computer science is obviously necessary for any software-related field, but I find mathematics equally important, as I've found that problem-solving in computing-related jobs requires mathematics as much as, if not more than, computer science.
What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?
My favorite thing about the program is how they give opportunities to students who might otherwise not get them. Camras seems to be unique and talented in selecting people with potential and giving them opportunities to improve on their skills and show off what they have.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
In 20 years I hope to be in a place where I can pursue my passions and contribute to others by doing what I love. From my time studying programming, mathematics, and data science, it's clear to me that they can be a source of fun and a force for good, and I want both of those to be true for me in my work.
How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camras scholar?
As captain of the swim team, I lead the team through times of uncertainty (including multiple major staff changes) by being honest and open to my teammates and to my coaches.
