Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?
Coming out of high school, architecture appeared to be a discipline and field where I could employ my analytical and creative problem-solving skills. My time at IIT has confirmed this and taught me even more about the breadth and variety of applications that an architecture education can lend itself to.
What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?
This is a program that unifies IIT students with different backgrounds, interests, and majors and creates a community to be a member of from the very first time you step foot on campus.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
In 20 years, I hope I have accumulated the education and experience necessary to design in a manner that empowers marginalized communities and heals our hurting planet. We will experience so much change in the next 20 years that architects and designers need to be prepared to identify the physical and social spaces needed in the world and help to fill that need with intelligent and equitable design.
How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camras scholar?
While at IIT, I have used my leadership and service skills to contribute to IIT's chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students. I have tried to serve my fellow architecture students by helping provide opportunities to further explore the field of architecture, develop professionally, and test their design skills outside of the studio and classroom. I have helped lead in the organization as a Student Licensing Advisor, National Membership Committee Member, Conference Planning Team Member, Film Competition Planning Team Member, Chapter Treasurer, and Chapter President.
