Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?
I knew I wanted to do engineering because I've always loved doing hands-on things. I also love chemistry and seeing reactions occur. Chemical engineering allows me to combine both these interests. With my degree, I am hoping to develop vaccines and drugs for a pharmaceutical company. There are so many diseases or illnesses impacting people and I would love to be part of a team that improves many lives.
What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?
The Camras Scholars Program allowed me to connect with peers early on which made the college transition smoother. There are so many opportunities to connect with people I would have not met outside the program.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
I have a goal of working for a pharmaceutical company and researching to cure various diseases. It's hard to tell what illnesses will be prevalent in 20 years, but I am hoping to contribute toward important advancements. I hope that my future contributions help people of all backgrounds.
How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camras scholar?
During summer 2021, I attended Exelon's STEM Leadership Academy. We were tasked with a project, leading my group to research how to reduce fuel emissions. We discovered plants were a feasible replacement to current fuel sources when implemented correctly. We were able to relate the pros and cons of current sources compared to plants. This involved gathering specific details involving economics, products it could be applied to, timeline, and how it could effectively be applied.My group and I divided the work, so I lead the team on the economic portion. At the end of the week, we presented to a panel of judges and gained valuable feedback.
