Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?
The degrees were for my parents & to help build a foundation for my future kids. I really just want to work on a project car in a garage & invite friends over for dinners.
What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?
The Camras Scholars Program is what enabled me to come to a university straight out of high school. Being exposed to a university's resources for those two years that I would have spent at a community college is an upper hand that I was given.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
I see myself having about two or three businesses that don't make a lot of money but help build sustainable, consistent income for my family (car washes, ice machines, laundry mats, parking lots). Once that's in place, I want to be a high school math teacher to help kids from the inner city.
How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camras scholar?
Once a year I go back to my high school on the south side of Chicago to give guidance to those who were once in my shoes. On campus, as a part of Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, I partake in service initiatives year-round in an effort to better our community. Through Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, I've also been able to make connections with administration at IIT as well as at other universities that ultimately make it easier for our ideas to become a reality on a larger scale.
