Research Interests
Rama Shankar is an expert in Quality Management Systems. She recently developed an extracurricular workshop for INTM on Minitab, a statistical software system employed in industry for facilitating data analysis and decision-making. Rama has over 25 years of experience in a variety of industries that include aerospace, automotive, OEM, discrete manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Her primary interests are on helping companies increase productivity, improve cycle time, quality, and eliminate waste within strategic processes. She has established Quality Management Systems (similar to ISO 9000, QS 9000, AS 9000) for many companies, taught clients how to use these systems, and prepared them to pass certification exams on the first attempt. She has developed course materials in the area of Lean, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Green Belt, Black Belt, Root Cause and Corrective Action, Quality Management Systems (ISP and AS 9100), Supplier Quality, Quality Auditing etc. In addition, Rama has worked on curriculum review and development and reviewed Green Belt and Black Belt materials for the service and financial industries. Rama is also widely recognized for her work in the pharmaceutical industry in particular. She has been the Keynote speaker at two international conferences on Drug Development.
