Research Interests
Yu Cheng joined Illinois Institute of Technology's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in August 2006. His current research interests include wireless network performance analysis, machine learning, age of information, and network security. He has served as several symposium co-chairs for IEEE ICC and IEEE GLOBECOM. He was the technical program committee co-chair for the International Conference on Wireless Artificial Intelligent Computing Systems and Applications (WASA) in 2011 and the International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC) in 2015. He was a founding vice chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Subcommittee on Green Communications and Computing. He is an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and IEEE Wireless Communications. He was an IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer from 2016 to 2017. He was elevated to IEEE Fellow in 2024.
