11th Annual Biomedical Engineering Society Pumpkin Launch

The Pumpkin Launch is IIT-BMES’ most popular event every year. This year, the Pumpkin Launch takes place on family weekend, Saturday, October 17, at 1 p.m. on Ed Glancy Field. Annually, this event attracts a lot of spectators not only from the Illinois Tech community, but from all over Chicago.

This event encourages students to form teams of 10-15 participants to build pumpkin-launching catapults. Awards are given to the team whose launcher sends a pumpkin down the field the furthest, with the most accuracy, and to the launcher that is the crowd favorite.

The Parent Network will provide light refreshments, and Food Trucks will be on site. During the festivities, the IIT Residence Hall Association will sponsor a pumpkin carving event.
