BME Seminar Series—Panel Discussion with BME Graduate Students: Got Grad School?

Are you interested in learning more about the different graduate school degree options, including co-terminal degrees, masters of science degrees, and Ph.D.s?

Come to the Department of Biomedical Engineering's Got Grad School event to discuss what graduate school is like, and explore why it could be a useful option in your career. This event is open to everyone. 

Three current biomedical engineering students will be panelists at the event, including: 

• Deborah Adesina is a fifth-year co-terminal student pursuing bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering (cell and tissue track), a master’s degree in chemical engineering, and a minor in business. She is an international student from Nigeria. Deborah previously served as the president of the Biomedical Engineering Society and is currently serving on the BEMS Mentorship Program Committee and the BME Seminar Series Committee. She is also involved in other student organizations, including the National Society of Black Engineers and African Student Organization.
• Stacey Cahoon concurrently completed a bachelor of science in biomedical engineering and a bachelor of arts in engineering science under a joint program between Benedictine University and Illinois Tech. Stacey participated in several research projects of great interest to her during her undergraduate studies because they involved combating disease and improving quality of life, while advancing other technological skills such as 3D modeling and computer programming. This involvement has allowed her to discover her passion and refine her skills for scientific research and discovery, and provided further motivation to pursue doctoral studies. Currently, Stacey is pursuing doctoral studies in biomedical engineering at Illinois Tech, with a focus on tissue biomechanics.
• Micah Oxner is a second-year biomedical engineering graduate student on the doctoral track working in Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering Abhinav Bhushan’s lab. She received her B.S. in mechanical engineering, with a specialization in biomedical engineering, and B.S. in applied mathematics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 2020.
