CAEE Seminar - Water Resource Construction Management – Understanding the Market and Opportunities for New Graduates

The CAEE Department will be hosting a seminar featuring Teresa Irby-Butler, PE, CCM. The topic of the seminar will be Water Resource Construction Management – Understanding the Market and Opportunities for New Graduates.

Presentation will review the Water Resources Construction Management market sectors, market drivers, market trends, and recent events impacting the market. The presentation will also discuss the various roles construction managers play in water resources projects from design conception to project recycling. The presentation will give an overview of large consultant firms who provide CM services on water resources projects. Lastly, the presentation will present select career development programs within the consultant arena and the public owner arenas. The consultants and owners’ who information will be presented include Greeley and Hansen, Arcadis, New York Department of Environmental Protection, New York Department of Design and Construction, Metropolitan District of Water Reclamation (MWRD) of Greater Chicago, and other major consultants/owners.

Ms. Irby-Butler has over 20 years’ experience as a construction professional. She earned her BSCE and has studies in both MSCM and MSCE. She earned the Construction Document Technician and Certified Construction Contract Administrator credentials through the Construction Specification Institute. Teresa is also a Certified Construction Manager and a Professional Engineering. Teresa has served on and lead construction management teams for several types of project delivery methods including design-build, design-bid-build, construction manager at risk, job-order-contract, and multiprime. In 2015, Ms. Irby-Butler assumed the role as the Managing Director of Greeley and Hansen’s Construction Engineering and Management operating group. In this position, Teresa is responsible for staff development, business operations and business development for Greeley’s national construction management group. Ms. Irby-Butler’s client portfolio stretches from Cape Coral, Florida to MWRD and from Orange County, California to the NYDEP.
