The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering presents it fall 2024 seminar series featuring Shadi Salahshoor, a senior program manager at GTI Energy, who will present “Evolving the Natural Gas Network Towards a Net-Zero Emissions Future.” This seminar will take place on Wednesday, October 23, from 3:15–4:30 p.m. in room 131 (auditorium) of Perlstein Hall.

Abstract

Given the urgent need to accelerate efforts to reduce carbon emissions, it’s crucial to utilize the existing infrastructure while new systems are being developed. The current natural gas network comprises millions of miles of pipelines and trillions of cubic feet of storage capacities. Due to the widespread nature of natural gas infrastructure, there are numerous opportunities to modify it in a way that it can transport and store renewable and low-carbon gases. This modification could pave the way for sustainable, long-lasting energy solutions in the United States. In this talk, GTI Energy will provide an overview of their ongoing research portfolio, aimed at reevaluating how natural gas infrastructure can be utilized to achieve net-zero goals.

Biography
