ChBE Seminar - Challenges and Opportunities for Modeling and Simulation Technology in the Pharmaceutical Industry

The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department will be hosting a seminar featuring Dr. Salvador García-Muñoz at Eli Lilly and Company . The topic of the seminar will be Challenges and Opportunities for Modeling and Simulation Technology in the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Abstract:

Multivariate latent variable methods (LVM) are not new in pharma and have been the method of choice in the calibration of spectroscopic equipment. There are however many other areas in which these tools can be applied to design, optimize, transfer, and operate pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This talk will review some applications from industry and showcase circumstances where new methodologies were required to solve the very complex problems found in data-rich environments like the modern pharmaceutical industry.
