ChBE Spring Seminar: Molecular Analysis Providing Directions for Process Synthesis and Operation Optimization

Armour College of Engineering and Biological Engineering Department will host a seminar featuring Dr. Frank (Xin) Zhu Honeywell -UOP Senior Fellow. He will present his lecture, Molecular Analysis Providing Directions for Process Synthesis and Operation Optimization.

Abstract:

Molecular analysis can provide strong insights for process operation and synthesis for achieving better product yields with less capital and operating costs. R&D in obtaining molecular information, developing molecular models and optimizing molecular flows enables Honeywell UOP, a leading technology company, to help operating companies to optimize process design and operation to enhance operating margin and achieve true potential.

Short Biography:

Dr. Frank Zhu is a Honeywell-UOP Senior Fellow leading technology innovations and process improvements. An innovative thinker while capable of following idea through implementation. Frank has made significant contributions to the theory of process integration via applying molecular analysis for process synthesis & operation optimization. More importantly, Franks’ methods have been successfully applied to industries and generated significant benefits in economic margin, energy savings and emission reductions world-wide.

Frank was the recipient of the prestigious AIChE Energy Sustainability Award 2014 due to his contributions. He also received Honeywell-UOP Technical Leadership Award and the Patent of the Year Award. Published several books and more than 100 papers and 50 patents. He is the co-founder and chair for International Conference for CO2 Summit: Technology and Opportunity, which took place in 2010 and 2016 respectively.
