Ethics for Biologists
Host
Department of BiologyDescription
In recent decades, society has asked for an increasing emphasis on ethics in the life sciences. Biologists and biology students are called upon to behave ethically and are asked to understand what constitutes ethical behavior. In this talk, I will explore some of what constitutes ethics as it plays out in the world of biology research and teaching. I will report on some research underway at IIT regarding the development of codes of ethics. Then, I'll call on audience members to tell me what you think about some ethical case studies, some of which are hypothetical and others of which are historical.
