Find Your Career Path
Do you know what job title you will have in 10 years? Neither do most people! However successful people know who they are, what they want to do, where they want to do it, and why they care about it. If you aren't sure of your destination, join Jessica Worny Janicki, Certified Career Coach, for this Transition to Work session on Thursday, February 5, from 2:45-5:45 p.m. at DTC Room 475.
Warren Buffet once said about careers, "Wishing makes dreams come true only in Disney movies; it's poison in business." By figuring out who you are and where you're going, achieving those SMART goals becomes much simpler.
The following pre-work is required in order to attend:
- Register for the workshop.
- Think of a specific “peak experience” that you have had in the past. It may be a time when you felt most alive, involved, or excited about what you were doing.
- Take the CareerLeader assessment at a time and place where you feel relaxed and calm, and allow 45 minutes. Answer the questions according to what comes to mind first. Do not try to think of multiple past examples, but provide answers that seem easiest to choose. If you have previously taken the assessment, you do not need to complete it again. Contact Shahzad Hussain via email at shussa18@stuart.iit.edu with any questions and to request the assessment passcode.
Bring your résumé, laptop, CareerLeader results, and your peak experience story to the workshop. Seating is limited.
