Illinois Tech RTC Lab Student Presentations - Spring'17
You are invited to join us for presentations, demonstrations and poster sessions about the Real-Time Communications projects created by students in IIT's School of Applied Technology.
Please register for the event by filling in your name and email at the registration page. Registration is free and open to the public. Your registration ensures that we will have enough food and beverages!
Schedule of Events:
There will be a poster session from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Students will be at their posters to discuss their work with you. Sandwiches, snacks and soft drinks will be served. The student presentations will take place from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Your presence supports the students, who benefit from your questions and comments. We greatly appreciate your support and are sure that you will come away with new information, ideas and contacts.

Presentations Include
Real Time Communications Lab Projects and Activities: Director Carol Davids will provide an overview of the Indoor Location Project and the new projects that began as part of this project and now have an independent existence.
WebRTC-based PSAP for Emergency Communications: Both web-originated and SIP-originated can be received at our WebRTC Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Geographic and civic location as well as indoor location are displayed on the browser of the PSAP operator both in text and on maps. A demo of the functionality will be included.
Network Architectures to support the WebRTC PSAP: Architectures to route calls to Web-based PSAPs are not standardized yet. This project describes several network designs – centralized, decentralized and hierarchical- that meet the requirements for emergency communications services and are optimized for WebRTC methods.
BlueTooth/Sensor Array supports Heating and Air-conditioning: The student team is mapping the temperature and humidity in one building as the first stage of a project that will enable the building engineers to better control the environment in campus buildings. This project leverages the code, infrastructure and architecture developed for the Indoor Location project.
BlueTooth-based Indoor Location for NG911 calls - Version 2.0: The students have built a platform that other developers can use to create new applications that leverage the existing array of bluetooth beacons and sensors and their associated database. Redesign of the smartphone application that makes emergency calls – enabling it to integrate with the WebRTC PSAP - will also be described.
