Neuroplasticity and Neurorehabilitation in an Animal Model of Traumatic Brain Injury
Host
BiologyDescription
The adult brain has the capacity to change in response to the environment, i.e. Neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity has been shown to be an underlying mechanism by which the brain recovers after a stroke and the vehicle through which rehabilitation strategies result in an enhanced recovery. Neuroplasticity and the brain’s response to rehabilitation has not been explored following traumatic brain injury (TBI). This talk will discuss research in my lab that has explored whether the brain following TBI is just as plastic and responsive to rehabilitation as a brain following stroke.
