Nutrition, Acetylation and Mitochondrial Quality Control

Mitochondrial dysfunction is a central component of many human diseases. As such, it is imperative for us to understand how different biological stresses may impact, and negatively regulate, mitochondrial function. It has recently been shown that changes in nutrition can alter mitochondrial function, through a post-translational protein modification called lysine acetylation. In this talk, I will examine how changing nutritional inputs can affect mitochondrial function, and how this regulates the mechanisms that maintain the fitness and lifespan of these organelles.
