From “The Origin of the Elements” to “Arrays of Things”

Davids will briefly summarize what is known about the origin of chemical elements, illustrated along the way by some nuclear physics experiments that he has been involved with. Next, he will discuss how technical advances have made the observation of very exotic nuclei possible. Jumping to the present time, he will describe how Illinois Institute of Technology is meeting the challenge of providing indoor location information on 9-1-1 calls from mobile phones inside tall buildings.
