Host
Applied Mathematics
Description
In Spring 2016, about 100 industrial statisticians from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia gathered at Illinois Tech for the 2016 Spring Research Conference. Applied Mathematics Professor Lulu Kang was invited by the steering committee to organize this year’s conference, which has been sponsored annually since 1994 by the American Statistical Association (ASA) and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS).
Professors Fred J. Hickernell and Sonja Petrović joined Kang in preparing the local arrangements and the program, which included sessions on algebraic statistics, big data analysis, experimental design, Monte Carlo methods, 3D printing, uncertainty quantification, and other important topics in industrial statistics. Participants included a significant number of fellows of the major statistical societies as well as students and early-career researchers.
