Studies Toward a Future 100 TeV-scale Hadron Collider

Since the successful commissioning of the Tevatron in 1983, the frontier of high-energy particle research has been led by the development of superconducting colliding beams synchrotrons. With the successful running of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in recent years comes the question of whether the trend can continue to even higher energies, especially with the history of previous attempts. Studies are underway, particularly in Europe and China, to look at the feasibility of 100 TeV-scale center-of-mass colliders within a circumference on the order of 100 km. In this talk, the major technological issues facing a 100 TeV hadron collider and the progress being made to address them are presented and discussed. Particular emphasis on the Future Circular Collider (FCC) study being performed in Europe will be made, with comparisons to previous studies and projects in the U.S.
