2018 MMAE Student Research Poster Competition
The annual MMAE Student Research Poster Competition was held on March 23, 2018 in the John T. Rettaliata Engineering Center. Twenty-two MMAE students, representing all degree levels, presented posters in the competition displaying the research work they have completed. Posters were judged by a panel of judges including members from the MMAE External Advisory Board and industry. The top scoring presenters from each academic level were awarded a certificate and monetary prize. Also, the MMAE Department presented departmental student awards to the best teaching assistant and recognized faculty for their contributions to research and teaching. Congratulations to the following winners:
BS/MS CATEGORY:
First Place – Elizabeth McQueney (ME, 4th year) and Prof. Spenko – “Ultrasonic Self-cleaning Microstructured Adhesives for Robotic Grippers”
PHD CATEGORY:
First Place – Qianran He (PhD MSE Candidate) and Prof. Shaw – “Design and Synthesis of Si@void@C Micro-reactors for Next-generation High Power-High Capacity Li-ion Batteries”
Second Place – Xiaowei He (PhD MAE Candidate) and Prof. Williams – “Dynamic Active Flow Control of the Roll Moment on a Generic UCAS Wing”
Third Place – Yousef Kanani (PhD MAE Candidate) and Prof. Acharya – “LES Study of the Laminar Heat Transfer Augmentation on the Pressure Side of a Turbine Vane under Freestream Turbulence”
