2019 Alternative Fuels Workshop

On May 14-15th, 2019, IIT's Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Department hosted the 2nd Annual Alternative Fuels Workshop. Attendees from industry and academia had an opportunity to learn from leading alternative-fuels experts about the current challenges in producing and utilizing these fuels and the technological advancements needed for their successful application in medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The Workshop' key topics included: (a) the economics of fuel production, (b) how biodiesel and renewable diesel compliment the electrification movement, (c) how fuel can be created from waste products, (d) advances in gas-to-liquid fuels, (e) the emerging hydrogen economy, and (f) advances in fuel cells for transportation applications.
