Adjunct Faculty Julide Demirdoven Publishes Paper with Undergraduate Research Students

Date

Julide Demirdoven, an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Armour College of Engineering, co-authored a paper with several undergraduate students who participated in the 2015 Engineering Undergraduate Summer Research Immersion Program. The students were selected and supported by their government to study and perform research in the United States as part of the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP). This is the second publication resulting from the program that offered faculty mentored research and practical engineering training to undergraduates.

The paper, titled Collaboration with BIM: An Experiential Learning Case was published by the Academic Interoperability Coalition (AIC) of National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). The paper explains the importance of taking an experiential approach to teaching Building Information Modeling (BIM), pointing out that the learning-by-doing method could increase design and construction management skills.

Brazilian students who co-authored the paper include: Amanda Dos Santos Aires, Dimas Crescencio Verissimo Santos, Fernando Caldeira Brant Borem Dias, Nivaldo Stefani Junior, Ronney Petyk Manicoba, and Wadham Entringer Bottacin.
