Advances in Cleaner Production Network Honors Ashton with Young Researcher Award

Stuart School of Business Associate Professor of Environmental Management and Sustainability Weslynne Ashton received the Young Researcher Award for 2019 from the Advances in Cleaner Production Network (ACPN) at the network’s annual International Workshop on November 13–15, 2019 in Sanya, China.

The award recognizes the contribution of young and experienced researchers to the advance of cleaner production and to the preservation of the environment.

Ashton delivered a keynote address at the workshop on Building Regenerative Economies for People and Planet (see PDF below) and chaired a session on Cleaner Production Technology. In her address, she discussed her collaborative research with colleagues at Illinois Tech’s Institute of Design—Associate Professor Carlos Teixeira and Adjunct Professor Andre Nogueira—to create an innovation lenses framework of eight capitals that can be used in developing regenerative economies that benefit people and the planet.

ACPN is an international network of researchers in different disciplines involved in sustainability issues. The organization was formed to exchange information and research results on technologies, concepts, and policies based on cleaner production and aims to assist the transition to a sustainable society. Members are from approximately 180 educational and research institutions in 40 countries.
