Armour College of Engineering Charles and Lee Finkl Professor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Philip Nash Delivers Keynote Lecture at TOFA 2018
Philip Nash, Charles and Lee Finkl Professor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, presented an invited keynote lecture titled “Enthalpies of Formation of Ternary Intermetallics” at the Thermodynamics of Alloys meeting. The conference was held in Seoul, Korea, October 1–5. The paper was co-authored by Armour College of Engineering Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering Wei Chen, Armour College of Engineering adjunct faculty member Susan Meschel, and materials science and engineering Ph.D. students Qing Gu and George Kim. Nash’s research is supported by a National Science Foundation grant from the Division of Materials Research. The experimental work was carried out in the calorimetry laboratory which has a custom made Kleppa type drop calorimeter and a commercial Setaram drop calorimeter. Nash’s lab is the only one in North America dedicated to thermodynamic measurements of intermetallic compounds.
