Bilson and STARS Introduce Local Students to Financial Markets

Last week, John Bilson, Associate Dean and Professor of Finance, and STARS students from IIT’s Computer Science department hosted an event for local 8th and 9th graders, exposing them to opportunities in financial markets, as well as familiarizing them with the finance programs offered at IIT Stuart.

Twenty-four students learned how to download data from Yahoo! Finance into an Excel spreadsheet and then perform an elementary financial analysis. By the end of the event, they were inputting positions into their Stocktrak accounts. Bilson will continue hosting events in collaboration with STARS in the future.
