Distinguished Professor of Computer Science Xian-He Sun Selected for Chinese Overseas Expert Advisory Committee

Distinguished Professor of Computer Science Xian-He Sun has been selected to be a member of the Overseas Expert Advisory Committee for the State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office. Sun received his certificate of appointment in the Great People’s Hall in Beijing, China, on September 29. He also had a roundtable discussion with the Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Dr. Wan Gang, on science policies and long-term science and technology development on September 28, and attended the state dinner hosted by Premier of China, Li Keqiang, on September 30.

He joins such other elite Chinese-American scientists as Samuel C. C. Ting, 1976 Nobel laureate and physicist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Shing-Tung Yau, winner of the Fields Medal and National Medal of Science, and mathematician at Harvard University; Paul Chu (Ching-wu Chu), winner of the National Medal of Science, member of the National Academy of Sciences, and physicist at the University of Houston; and David Ho (Da-I Ho), prominent HIV/AIDS researcher, scientific director and chief executive officer of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center and professor at Rockefeller University in New York City.
