Former Applied Mathematics Student, Anita Thomas, Gets Published
Anita Thomas (AMAT ‘13) co-authored a paper, “A Rotation Scheme for Accurately Computing Meteoroid Flux,” with Martin Ratliff, Ph.D., scientist, Reliability Engineering Office, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Caltech, and Shuwang Li, associate professor of applied mathematics at IIT. The paper was published by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) undergraduate research online (SIRUO). The research paper analyzes the risk of collisions with particle-sized meteoroids and spacecraft flying through interplanetary space. Thomas is currently a graduate student at Ohio State University.
