Gorham Leads Discussion at Symposium in Washington, D.C.

Date

Michael Gorham, Industry Professor of Finance and Director of the Center for Financial Innovation, led the discussion “Do Derivatives Make Sense?” at the Derivatives Marketing Symposium held September 15 at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C.

The discussion covered futures and cleared swaps contracts and markets and why they are useful; how futures contracts are different from stocks and why their markets differ; and the major changes that have occurred in futures markets over the past several decades. The Derivatives Market Symposium is an educational event exclusively reserved for members of Congress, congressional and committee staff, and invited guests.
