Graduate Student Bofan Zhu Awarded Kilpatrick Fellowship
Graduate Student Bofan Zhu has been awarded the Kilpatrick Fellowship for the academic year 2013–2014. This is the most prestigious award given each year to one of the most promising graduate students in Chemistry at IIT. Bofan Zhu is currently working on designing new composite materials for coaxing neuronal differentiation of stem cells.
The Kilpatrick Fellowship is made possible through a generous gift from the Kilpatrick Trust to honor Martin and Mary Kilpatrick, who were outstanding researchers and educators. Martin Kilpatrick served as chair of IIT's Chemistry Department from 1947–1960. Mary Kilpatrick was a chemistry faculty member from 1947–1964. During Kilpatrick's tenure at IIT, the Chemistry Department saw vigorous growth in teaching and research activities.
