IIT Stuart Students Leverage Exclusive Career Resources to Land Some of Today’s Hottest Jobs: Giovanni Rumbolo

Even though Giovanni Rumbolo needs a few more courses to complete his master’s degree in Environmental Management and Sustainability, he’s already landed a great job in his field as a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Motorola Solutions. His connection through a fellow IIT Stuart classmate alerted him to the job opening, at which point Rumbolo partnered with Stuart’s CMC to perfect his resume and application techniques. “Staff in the Stuart CMC were very helpful,” said Rumbolo.

Rumbolo notes that the technical, engineering and scientific elements of the EMS program have been especially applicable to his current role, in which he tracks any metrics that impact the environmental footprint of the company. With time, Rumbolo looks forward to finding ways to improve the recycling rate, reduce waste, and improve the overall environmental impact.

Rumbolo sees the EMS degree being useful beyond the business focus of environmental sustainability. “EMS has a great curriculum with diversity in its courses and is applicable in the marketplace,” he notes. “The business skills from this program can also be used in fields such as supply chain management, operations, in the design and manufacturing of a product. You can give recommendations on changes that will save the company money while also making an environmental difference.”
