IIT Stuart Undergrads Showcase Work at Fall IPRO Day
IIT Stuart undergraduate students participated in Fall IPRO Day on November 21, 2014. The culmination of semester-long projects, IPRO Day, showcases team projects to the IIT community and industry professionals from the area.
Venika Jarvis, a second-year undergraduate in the B.S.B.A. program, and her team developed an app through their project, “The Food Pick Up Artists,” that enables the IIT community to place advance orders for food from campus venues, thereby avoiding a long wait in line. Jarvis, particularly interested in supply chain management, is a business development intern with the CTA through the end of the academic year. She discovered the internship opportunity at the IIT Fall Career Fair. The project of John Ramirez and Shiyi (Miles) Shen, third-year undergraduates in the B.S.B.A. program, involved a user-centered design that combined coding and business principles and applied them to miniature golf. Golf Innovation 1: “// Risk && Reward” employed three weighted pathways based on risk vs. reward. Ramirez works at Mariano’s Grocery and plans to pursue a career in business management career. Shen plans to pursue a graduate degree and a career in banking. Through the project “Turn Down for Watt? To Save Tower Power!”, Stephen Pepper and his team conducted an energy investigation and analysis of IIT Tower to identify cause and effect factors and propose creative, environmentally-conscious, and viable solutions to reduce energy consumption by 20% within five years. Pepper is a fifth-year undergraduate in the B.S.B.A. program and is planning a purchase management career. He works for IIT Campus Sustainability and is interested in sustainability.
