IIT Stuart Undergraduate Students Attend MidWest Crowdfunding Conference in Chicago

IIT Stuart Student Affairs and the IIT Undergraduate Business Council (UBC) partnered to sponsor eight Stuart undergrads to attend the MidWest Crowdfunding Conference, held in Chicago on November 15, 2013. Student attendees included George Batah, Harshita Iyer, Alex Uribe, Yoni Pruzansky, Emanuel Chis, Anthony Thurston, Mazen Ataya, and Kevin Tapia.

The conference focused on how crowdfunding extends beyond products and services to real estate investments, equity, and more, with a growing body of available funding platforms in addition to Kickstarter. "Not every platform is suitable for every product or service," noted UBC President Yoni Pruzansky (B.S.B.A. '14, pictured at right), "and a lot of preparation and research is needed to choose the right platform for your idea. Even a good idea can fail if it's pitched to the wrong crowd."

Students also had opportunities to network with other conference attendees and make valuable professional connections.
