Illinois Tech Students Reflect on APICS 2018 National Conference
The IIT- APICS Student Chapter sent 28 students to APICS’ 2018 Annual National Conference in Chicago. The Conference program included more than sixty different sessions on topics related to supply chain and operations, and an exhibition area where more than fifty companies showcased their products and services, meant for all different types of organizations. The students attended seminars on inventory management, supply chain risk management, E-Commerce, AI in supply chain, and supply chain optimization.
Industrial Technology and Management (INTM) Graduate Student, Rohit Vaze, thanked INTM Program Director, Mazin Safar, and APICS-Chicago Board Member/IIT Student Chapter Coordinator, for giving him and the others the opportunity to attend. He was impressed with the size and scope of the event, and the chance to meet so many professionals and prospective employers in his chosen field.
APICS assigned mentors to help direct the students to important sessions and introduce them to other participants for networking purposes. For many, this was their first time attending such a large professional gathering. The mentors helped to make their experience richer. Vaze commented that he would encourage all students to take advantage of such opportunities in the future.
