INTM to Participate in an IIT Booth at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS)
IMTS bills itself as “Americas’ Largest Manufacturing Show" with than 2,400 manufacturing industry
attendees from all over the world at Chicago’s McCormick Place, September 10-15, 2018. The Show
includes a Student Summit where Illinois Tech and other universities, professional
organizations, and training programs will showcase our educational options for students interested in
advanced manufacturing and associated careers.
Illinois Tech’s booth-- Student Summit; North Building, Level 1, Booth #215628— will feature student projects taking place in the School of Applied Technology (SAT) and examples of items that can be created in Illinois Tech's Prototyping Lab. Visitors will also have the opportunity to make their own wearable buttons
using technology available in a maker-space in Galvin Library, and to meet students, faculty, and staff, during all five Show days. On the following days, there will be additional project demonstrations:
- Monday, September 10:
See how Illinois Tech/School of Applied Technology (SAT) students rendered standard AutoCAD and SolidWorks files as an interactive hologram, and learn how voice control and internet connectivity can be integrated for real-time data display.
- Wednesday, September 12:
See a prototype unit that SAT students created to provide portable field battery recharging capabilities for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and large-scale drone fleets. Learn how they’re modifying the electronics of off-the-shelf UAVS to allow conductive charging to commence upon landing.
SAT/Information Technology and Management Professor, Jeremy Hajek, supervised both projects. He
and some of his students will be available to answer questions. For information and videos about these
and other SAT projects, see SMART TECH LAB.
