INTM Students win APICS Chicago Case Competition

Date

Four students from Industrial Technology and Management (INTM) competed in the Third Annual Chicago Case Competition hosted by The Association for Operations Management (APICS) on October 18, 2011 and secured the first place trophy. Congratulations to Fred Herringer, Carlos Jimenez, Raquel Justa and Shan Lu.

The invitational competition included NEIU, IIT, Loyola and GSU. The case study focused on challenges facing a manufacturing company, and the team was required to analyze a multitude of operational issues, identify immediate and secondary action items, and draft a strategic plan.

Cheering on the team was Mazin Safar, INTM Interim Program Director, ITO student Sukanya Meebangkoed (at left) and Jerry Wang (ITO ’08) (at right). The team is now looking ahead to the regional APICS Great Lakes Case Competition which will take place in February 2012 and involve more than 20 universities from the Midwest.

INTM students are encouraged to get involved in the IIT APICS Student Chapter, which holds meetings each semester and features guest speakers from APICS. The INTM program will sponsor the first year of student membership for INTM students (requires full-time status).
