ITM Alum/Adjunct Industry Professor, Shawn Davis, testifies in front of an IL House Committee
Congratulations to ITM Adjunct Industry Professor and ITM alum Shawn Davis who testified in front of an IL House Committee on student data privacy and was the featured speaker at a cyber security forum for Representative Al Riley of the 38th District.
In Illinois, there is currently a law called the Student Online Personal Protection Act. TheIL House Cybersecurity, Data Analytics & IT Committee convened a subject matter hearing on Monday, August 6th to hear from educators, the tech industry, parents, and student advocates to determine if additional protections for K-12 students may need added into legislation. Professor Davis role was to serve as a subject matter expert and
describe the various parties involved in K-12 student data collection as well as explain the various risk examples involved in third parties holding vast amounts of student data.
Davis was also a keynote speaker at State Representative Al Riley’s Cyber Security Forum.
