ITM Student, Dhruva Juloori, Earns Best Project at Midwest Big Data Hackathon at University Of Iowa

Illinois Tech Information Technology and Management student Dhruva Juloori and his team of three recently won the best project in the health care category at the Midwest Big Data Hackathon at University Of Iowa. The project, Hawkhelp, is a messaging system which enables the user to get information about hospital, movies, and restaurants nearby and also the local weather information.

The team was awarded $300 prize and also final round interviews for the company "Health Tech Solutions."

Midwest Big Data Hackathon was September 16 - 17, 2017 and is a 2 day non-stop hackathon with 150 participants, and it was held at University of Iowa. The event was open to all university students that have a passion for creating things with technology!

Students formed teams with up to 4 members for their project (or 'hack'). Projects are open format, which means that you can hack on web, mobile, desktop, or hardware applications. Company mentors helped throughout the event for questions to make sure beginners and experts alike had the help they need to successfully develop their project. All teams provide a demo of their hacks at the end of the event and winners were chosen by company mentors.
