Jack Snapper recognized with 2017 Lewis College Excellence in Teaching Award

Jack Snapper, associate professor of philosophy, was recently selected to receive the 2017 Lewis College of Human Sciences Excellence Teaching Award. He was recognized by Provost Frances Bronet at the Faculty Awards and Recognition Reception on Thursday, April 27.

Snapper has been an Illinois Tech faculty member for 40 years and throughout that time has been recognized as a valuable contributor to all aspects of the university's mission. He has taught uncountable numbers of undergraduates in humanities courses at all levels. His teaching evaluations have been uniformly high. But what sets him apart is his unswerving dedication to Illinois Tech students.

When asked about Snapper, students are often very enthusiastic about him and the courses they take with him. He makes an effort to show students that he cares and wants them to excel. He is also very enthusiastic about the material he teaches. His appreciation of art, philosophy, aesthetics, is infectious and inspires students to push themselves to learn and appreciate all that they learn in his classes. His teaching has not only affected Lewis College students, but has also had a positive impact on the undergraduate experience of all Illinois Tech students.
