Prepare for the Fall 2014 Career Fair
The IIT Fall 2014 Career Fair will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, from 12 noon-4 p.m. in Hermann Hall at 3241 S. Federal St., Chicago, IL. Over 150 companies and more than one thousand students and alumni are likely to participate in this event.
As your first opportunity of the academic year to meet and impress companies, it is important to prepare for the Career Fair and every recruiting event in three ways:
- Prepare Yourself: Create an excellent resume and have it reviewed by IIT Stuart Career Management Center before the event. Develop your 30-second pitch that you will use to introduce yourself. Additionally, you can match your unique strengths with companies attending the fair by completing a Better Weekdays assessment to view job postings and connect with companies.
- Research Employers: Research targeted companies by downloading the University Career Management Center's app to view a list of employers with their locations at the event. Go beyond answering the typical questions, such as "Why are you interested in our company?," with extensive research to separate yourself from other job applicants. Also, prepare several insightful questions that you will ask when you meet recruiters.
- Strategize How to Maximize this Opportunity: Stand out to employers and make the most of this opportunity.
