SAT’s Maurice Dawson Presents Research in Tunisia and in the U.S.
Maurice Dawson, assistant professor and director of the Center for Cyber Security and Forensics Education at Illinois Institute of Technology’s School of Applied Technology, recently traveled to the cities of Tunis and Sousse in Tunisia to deliver talks at two global cybersecurity events.
On October 16 Dawson presented “Applying Software Assurance and Cybersecurity NICE Job Tasks through Secure Software Engineering Labs” at the Higher Institute for Technology Studies in Communications of Tunis. NICE, or National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, is a partnership between government, academia, and the private sector promoting a robust network and ecosystem of cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development. Dawson presented the same paper at a second event, the Conference on ENTERprise Information Systems, held October 16–18 in Sousse. The annual event drew participants from around the world to discuss the latest developments in the largely multidisciplinary field of enterprise information systems from social, organizational, and technological perspectives.
Closer to home, Dawson presented “Framework for the Development of Virtual Labs for Industrial Internet of Things and Hyperconnected Systems” at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers LWMOOCS VI Learning with MOOCS 2019 Enhancing Workforce Diversity and Inclusion conference, held October 23–25 in Milwaukee. MOOCS stands for massively open online courses. He wrote the paper with Francisco Garcia Martinez, who recently completed both an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and a Master of Information Technology and Management from Illinois Tech, and colleague Pedro Taveras.
