Sociologist Charles Hirschman visits IIT Social Sciences
Charles Hirschman, Boeing International Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington, met with faculty and students from IIT's Social Sciences and Humanities departments for a morning conversation on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014. Hirschman visited campus as a guest speaker in IIT President John Anderson's Presidential Lecture Series. Hirschman's conversation with faculty and students focused largely on the central themes of the lecture he would give in the afternoon, titled "The Contributions of Immigrants to American Culture." Additional topics of conversation included Hirschman's other projects and career history, as well as the variety of course options and faculty research interests within IIT's Department of Social Sciences.
