Certificates and other programs for students who are not seeking degrees offer excellent exposure to Illinois Tech's high-quality academic experience.
We offer the following non-degree programs:

Applying as a non-degree-seeking and visiting/exchange student is easy:
STEP ONE: Complete an Application
Illinois Tech accepts applications for fall, spring, and summer term. Applications for future year terms open in August. To submit a program for any of our non-degree programs, please create an Illinois Tech Application Portal account and start a new "Undergraduate" application.

Selecting Your Term
- Fall Term: Runs from August to December. Application deadline: August 1 (domestic, including international students living in the U.S.); May 15 (International students living outside of the U.S.)
- Spring Term: Runs from late January to mid-May. Application deadline: November 15
- Summer Term: Runs from end of May to mid-August. Application deadline: Two weeks prior to the first day of classes
STEP TWO: Submit Your College Transcript(s)
Non-degree-seeking applicants will need to submit any college transcripts as evidence that they have met prerequisites for the courses they wish to take. We will accept unofficial and official transcripts.

STEP THREE: Check your program below for additional application requirements.
The Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering offers the certificate in Engineering Graphics and CAD. This program is designed to prepare specialists in graphics for positions in business and industry. Students completing the specified courses with satisfactory grades will be awarded a certificate of completion. This certificate is available only to students enrolled in a degree program at the university and does not qualify for federal financial aid. The certificate in Industrial Technology and Management is for individuals who want to improve management, supervisory, and decision-making skills required for world-class industrial operations. This certificate does not qualify for federal financial aid. Consult the Industrial Technology and Management section in this bulletin for further information.
The Department of Psychology offers the certificate in Industrial Training. This certificate is designed to help individuals learn methods of knowledge delivery in industrial training settings. This certificate is only available to students enrolled in a degree program at the university and does not qualify for federal financial aid. Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Programs
Departments that offer post-baccalaureate certificate programs include: Chemical and Biological Engineering; Chemistry; Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical and Computer Engineering; Food Science and Nutrition; Humanities; Information Technology and Management; Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering; Physics; and Psychology. Certificate programs are also offered by Stuart School of Business.

The International Visiting and Exchange Program is for students who are enrolled full-time overseas and interested in spending a semester or a year at Illinois Tech. This program allows you to study among a diverse student body in one of the world's greatest cities.
Please consult the international office at your current university for more information regarding your study abroad experience and to verify whether your institution has a direct exchange agreement with Illinois Tech.

Brush up on your science skills and take the classes you need to prepare yourself for a career in healthcare and gain and education in the pre-medical science courses that are required for admission to any medical, osteopathic, or veterinary school in the country with Illinois Tech's Post-Baccalaureate/Pre-Medicine program.
You must hold a degree of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science from an accredited college or university in the United States or an equivalent degree from an institution outside the United States. At a minimum, you must possess a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0. In most cases, you will not be eligible for admission if you have applied to medical school previously or have completed your pre-medical preparation elsewhere within the last five years. This is not a remedial program. You must submit a complete application package to the undergraduate admissions office for full consideration.

Students who want to enroll in undergraduate coursework at Illinois Tech at less than full-time status for ROTC and who are from crosstown institutions, or students who do not intend to obtain an Illinois Tech degree, must fill out the appropriate form(s) below.

The newly launched Recovery Support Specialist Certificate program is designed for individuals with lived expertise in recovery from mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use recovery who wish to work as recovery support specialists—people who use their own lived recovery experiences to support the recovery of others as peers.
This program allows individuals with lived expertise in recovery from mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use recovery to prepare for work and become certified as recovery support specialists and peer recovery specialists.
